BENJAMINS BLACK CASTOR OIL
Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) is a rich , dark . Celebrated in natural hair and skincare communities, JBCO is renowned for moisturizing hair, promoting hair growth, soothing dry scalps, and deeply hydrating the skin.Â
Key Differences: JBCO vs. Regular Castor Oil
- Production: Regular castor oil is cold-pressed from raw seeds, resulting in a pale yellow color. JBCO is traditionally made by roasting the beans, grinding them, and boiling them in water. The ash from the roasting process gives JBCO its characteristic dark color and smoky, nutty scent.Â
- pH Balance: The ash produces an alkaline oil, which helps open the hair cuticles to deeply penetrate the scalp.
How to Use It
- For the Hair/Scalp: Apply a few drops directly to your scalp and massage with your fingers for 2-3 minutes. You can also use it as a “sealant” by applying a leave-in conditioner first, and then locking in the hydration with JBCO.
- For Eyebrows/Eyelashes: Use a clean spoolie brush to lightly apply the oil to your brows or lash line before bed.
- For the Skin: Massage a small amount onto damp skin immediately after bathing to seal in hydration.
